High School Programming
Beyond middle school, Open Doors Academy seeks to ensure that our youth have the opportunity and support that they need to graduate from high school, and complete a post secondary degree at a college institution or trade school. ODA's high school alumni program provides our students with continued support throughout their high school careers.
Programming consists of bi-weekly academic tutoring, opportunities for volunteering in the community, summer paid/unpaid internships, weekly evening apprenticeships focused on developing 21st century work skills, college tours, national service learning trips, and individual mentoring and support.
Our expectations remain high for our high school students. Each student is expected to complete 75 hours of community service a year, maintain a minimum of a 2.8 GPA, and meet with their mentor at least once a month to establish both short-term and long-term goals targeted towards their career path.
After high school, we continue to support our alumni throughout college and beyond, through college visits, phone calls, and emails, as well as, planning alumni dinners during school breaks, and encouraging participation in our annual service learning trip. We are proud to have alumni present at Harvard, Purdue, Cornell, Ohio State, and Columbia, among many others.
